First card counting systems appeared in 1950-s, but not many people paid their attention to them until 1960-s. During this period of time an outstanding mathematician professor Edward Thorp publishes his famous book "Beat the Dealer" and the era of counting cards starts. In his book he explains that each smart person is able to count cards in blackjack and beat the casino dealer. The aim of his counting system was to track high and low cards. He is the father of Hi-Lo Count - that is the most popular and effective counting systems till nowadays.

Card Counting in Blackjack

Counting cards is just a simple procedure of adding and subtracting the 1. The player adds 1 if a low card is dealt and subtracts one if a high card is dealt.
